WCF Gender Policy published

I am pleased to announce that Council voted to approve the WCF Gender Policy (version 1.0), with 21 votes in favour and 16 against.

The Management Committee will continue to monitor this subject. Any queries with respect to the policy and how it is interpreted should be addressed to the Secretary-General.

2022 AC World Team Championship 2.1, 2.2 and 3 – Entry Fees

The entry fee of £288 per team for this event is now requested and should be paid by the Team Announcement date of 9th June 2022 at the latest.

2022 GC WC Ranking Places and Wild Cards announced

The Announcement Date for the GC World Championship, to be held 30th July to 7th August 2022 at the Sussex County Croquet Club, Sussex, England is 31st March 2022.

The Management Committee have agreed the following allocation of places for this 64 person event.

The Management Committee are pleased to offer Blake Fields (USA) and Jack Good (England) the two available wild cards. All the criteria were considered, but the main basis of selection was per Sports Regulations Appendix 3, clause 2.1.1, 'the encouragement of young players or players showing exceptional promise of future development'.

The 20 Ranking Places have been awarded to the following players, based on the Initial Ranking List dated 17th March 2022. This is based on their Max DG ranking over 24 months as per Sports Regulations Appendix 2, clause 2.3 (and the Temporary Amendment extending the time frame from 12 to 24 months).

Entry Fees

Players are advised that entry fees become due on 10th June 2022. Details of how and when to pay will be emailed out to players after the Closing date 8th May.

Member Places

Members should send the Secretary-General the names of players to be nominated for their Member Places by 8th May 2022. Some Members have already notified the names of their nominees - please note that these can be changed up to the above deadline.

Replacement Ranking List 

If any players drop out of the event between now and 13th June 2022 their space will be taken by players on the Replacement Ranking List. After this date, any places returned will result in additional places awarded through the Qualifying Event.

The Replacement Ranking List will be generated fresh on the relevant day  (the date a space becomes available) using the same Max DG over 24 months basis. Given that games are being played every day this list may change. However, for information only, the list below shows the current Top 10 players as at 17.3.22. These players are NOT in the event.

ERC Meeting 1: Summary

Communiqué of the meeting of the ERC held on 22nd March 2022

1. Daniel Larsson, from Sweden, was elected as a new member of the ERC . His term ends 31 December 2023.

2. The ERC is exploring the possibility of organising the European GC Club League. The first edition could take place on a trial basis between years 2022 and 2023. Further information on the potential format will follow shortly.

3. The two ERC events to be held this year are the GC Open at Budleigh Salterton, Devon, England and the Women's GC Championship to be held in Latvia. See page ERC 2022 Championships for dates and further information.

 

Mohamed Raslan is elected to the Management Committee

The WCF is pleased to announce that the management committee will be joined by Mohamed Raslan from Egypt who successfully won the election that closed on 20th March 2022.

Mohamed Raslan will join the Management Committee immediately and serve until 31 December 2025.

Raslan’s croquet journey started in 1982 in Alexandria, Egypt as a player for Somouha and Alexandria sporting clubs. When he moved to Cairo, he joined Maadi club and within a few years, he became involved with the team management. As the head of the team’s management committee, he led the efforts to organize a successful annual national tournament. He also facilitated corporate sponsorship allowing the team to gain financial independence.

In December 2021, Raslan was elected president of the Egyptian Croquet Federation.

2022 European GC Open Championship – Entry Fees

Players who have been notified that they have received a place in the upcoming European Golf Croquet Open Championship need to pay the £50.00 entry fee by Wednesday 13th April 2022 at the latest.

Per WCF Sports Regulations Appendix 2, clause 6, players who fail to pay by the due date will lose their place. The relevant sections of the regulation are below for your information:

6.1 Subject to paragraph 6.2, failure to pay the entry fee by the due date will lead to automatic disqualification and the place will be filled in accordance with paragraph 7.

6.2 Before disqualifying a player for failing to pay their entry fee on time, at least two reminders must have been sent to the Member which nominated the player and all reasonable efforts must have been made to contact the player directly.

All players who can pay by Bank to Bank transfer are encouraged to do so. This avoids the WCF incurring costly PayPal fees. Instructions on how to pay will be sent to each player via their Member.

WCF 6th Edition Golf Croquet Rules now published

The WCF Management Committee are pleased to report that the 6th Edition of the WCF Golf Croquet Rules was approved by the required two-thirds majority, with 50 votes in favour and no votes against.
