Wales won a thrilling final against Ireland. Chris Williams, captain of Wales, was voted the best player of the tournament.

Wimbledon Bowl

The Wimbledon Bowl

The Wimbledon Bowl was presented by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to the Croquet Association (of England) to commemorate the hosting of the first WCF World Association Croquet Championship in 1989.

In turn, the Croquet Association generously made indefinite loan of the trophy to the WCF for continued presentation to the winner of successive championships.

Description:-

Hallmarked silver bowl of foot, height 11.5 inches, diameter 13 inches, weight 90 troy ounces, (all approximate).

Acanthus leaf embossed pattern on foot and on underside of bowl, Greek key pattern border round top edge, handles square section with acanthus leaf mounts. Engraved "WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ASSOCIATION CROQUET - Presented by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club 1989" . Inside of bowl gilt, hallmarked silver London 1890, sponsor's mark worn and unreadable. Black wood plinth with silver band hallmarked London 1990, sponsor "MJS" and engraved with winners names from 1989 to 2005, complete in fitted baize lined case with carrying handle, hasp fasten and lockable with padlock.
