World Croquet Federation

2025 was a great year for events with the GCWTC Tier 1, 2 and 3, the GCWC Under 21’s and the ACWC hosted in Florida in October.

Our appreciation and thanks goes out to every volunteer, whether you have been the hoop setter, referee, caterer, organising committee member or manager, none of these wonderful events happen without your hard work and support. You only need to look at the glowing responses from the Players Surveys to understand how your work is truly appreciated.

We must not forget the players, a huge shout out to all players who continue to strive for excellence in our sport and are rewarded with the opportunity to represent their country.

The growth of live streaming means you are all now part of our everyday croquet family no matter where in the world you are. We cheer for you, watching whenever we can and checking croquetscores.com for the nail-biting finishes when we can’t be watching.

2026 also promises to be a spectacular year showcasing some superb events.

In July we have the WCF ACWTC Tier 2 and Tier 3 events, with a record entry being hosted by the Nottingham Club in England.

In July/ August we have The Mac Robertson Shield in its centenary year which is the ACWTC Tier 1 event. When the “big 4” get together to compete in this test series its always special, but this will be something else again, so Association Croquet lovers should be thinking of making their way to England to be part of this once in a lifetime event.

In November the WCF GCWC with be held in Egypt, and anyone who attended the Egyptian Open in 2025 will tell how extraordinary that event was.  Egypt promises to host an amazing tournament.

Best wishes,

The WCF Management Committee

About our sport

Croquet at its most basic is a sport played on  grass using six hoops, four balls and two mallets. It's a mix of snooker and chess, but on grass. The winner is the side that can get both their balls through the hoops before the other. It is a game of skill and strategy, with precision and touch as important as hitting that long shot across the lawn.

In Association Croquet players make 'breaks' just like in snooker. Only one player is on the lawn at a time, whilst the other sits to one side, anxiously watching for a mistake and their turn to play. In Golf Croquet, each player takes it in turns to play a single stroke. Played by the top players it is very competitive and challenging but at club level it is easy to learn and pick up the basics.

Club play is very social and beginners sessions are held regularly.  Why not try a game at your local club? See our Members page for more information.
